What does the test detect?
MouldMonitor detects fungal species using the ITS DNA barcode region — the international gold standard for fungal identification.
Common indoor moulds we detect include:
- Stachybotrys chartarum (often referred to as “black mould”)
- Aspergillus fumigatus
- Penicillium chrysogenum
- Cladosporium herbarum
We report:
- Species detected
- Relative abundance
- Species impact score (1–5)
- Calculated MouldMonitor Score
All homes contain some fungi. Our test helps distinguish normal background presence from elevated levels of concern.
